today while i was walking down swanston street looking for a place to grab a bite for lunch with my sister, there was this long queue lining up along the street. during lunch time!! and guess what. they were lining up for a concert right smack in the middle of the street. they closed off half a street, basically a city block and set up their stage and everything there. didnt know who was playing though as you really cant see over the barricades. but there were quite alot of people. and i dont think it was a free concert. you actually had to pay for it i think. i saw them having TICKETS!!
concerts on the street? pretty cool. but i mean…who would pay for them. its like..paying to go to the public toilets. i think a street is a public place…so technically shouldnt it be a free concert? maybe its free but u needed to get a ticket from somewhere. so yea. i thought it was pretty interesting.
actually there are alot of interesting things going on in melbourne during the summer. take for example the Moonlight Cinema. i think its only on for the summer thats why never really heard of it because im always back for the summer. its like our starlight cinema back home or whatever they call it. they have a pretty good line up of movies though. old school ones like .edward scissorhands and recent ones as well like i am legend and across the universe and alot more. pretty good selection i feel.
and my aunt was telling me they have outdoor plays as well. like a midsomer nights dream. so you walk around the park with them as they move to different locations and you then sit down and watch them again. sounds awesome eh.
and another one is the Outdoor Sunset concert. its free!! symphony concerts in the park. sadly i think its all almost over because summer is almost over as well. but i never really knew there were so many things to do in melbourne in the summer. well at least if i stay here for summer ill have at least more options on activities.
