market festival

i honestly don’t know what so spectacular or great about the night market that is usually held every summer. other than the overpriced food and massive crowds, id say its nothing more than a reason to be out at night with some friends chilling and just, being out here because there is no where else to go in melbourne at night. like really. there were heaps of people there as usual. alot of my own friends were there as well. its like…there’s nothing else to do so lets all go to the night market wweeee.

apart from some stalls that sold normal goods at any typical market like souvenirs, accessories, the main attraction of the night market has to be the food. basically , its like a pasar malam with more lok lok and apong stalls. the presence of the live music bands and performances did a good job in entertaining the crowd i must say.

the streams of people who flock in and out of the market were mainly there to eat the exotic range of food they had on sale such as kangaroo meat , croc meat. well those were the more , adventurous stuff. but they had a very broad range of food stalls ranging from spanish, japanese , vietnamese , turkish , mexican , italian , greek and alot more that i don’t even know where they are from. but there are ALOT of things to tickle your palette. they even have desserts such as gelati and those kinda stuff.

me and my friend had some German gourmet sausages for dinner. mind you the food wasn’t cheap. a single sausage hot dog came up to 8 dollars. a little pricey if u ask me. all the food there was around that price or more. i think minimum was about 7 dollars. we couldnt get to sink our teeth into a croc burger because it was already sold out when we got there. must have been popular. i mean..who wouldnt want to eat a croc when its usually them eating you eh.

then for dessert we decided to try this honey dumpling thingy. tasted like a flour ball. its like tong yuen but fried on the outside. abit like french toast as well. wasn’t anything fantastic, but the queue was quite enthusiastic.

overall, i went with everyone else’s or most of their motives, just to get out of the house and be there because there is nothing else to do in melbourne at this time. but it was cool and documenting it has been pretty entertaining for me as well. recollections of the evening. well at least i did something.
